Account security

Your Storey account is protected by multiple layers of security — designed to keep your information safe, while remaining simple and practical to use.

More than just a password

Storey does not rely on a single password alone. Instead, we use a layered approach that combines device-based security, second factors, and optional password replacement methods.

This reduces the risk of account takeover, even if your email address or password were ever compromised.

  • Multiple authentication factors so no single method grants full access
  • Device-based security using modern biometric standards
  • User-controlled options — enable only what you’re comfortable with

Biometric sign-in

Biometric authentication allows you to sign in using your fingerprint or face recognition, without entering a password on that device.

How it works

Your device verifies your identity locally using its built-in biometric system. Storey never sees or stores your fingerprint or face data.

Where it works

Biometric sign-in is supported across Apple, Windows, iOS, and Android devices that support modern biometric authentication.

Biometric access is device-specific. If you change or lose a device, you can still access your account using your other authentication methods.

Second-factor protection

After entering your email and password, Storey can prompt for an additional security step. This ensures that access requires something you know or have — not just your login details.

Authenticator app

Enter a time-based, one-time code from an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.

4-digit PIN

Set a personal PIN that is requested after your email and password are entered. This provides fast protection without relying on a third-party app.

Memorable word

Choose a word you’ll remember. When logging in, we only ask for specific characters from that word — never the full word.

Sessions & device access

Storey actively manages login sessions so you stay in control of where your account is accessed. For added protection, signing in on a new device automatically expires existing sessions.

  • Sessions are tied to individual devices and browsers
  • Signing in on a new device automatically expires previous sessions
  • You can sign out of your account at any time
  • Authentication is required again if a session expires or changes

If you ever suspect unauthorised access, changing your password and reviewing your security settings will immediately protect your account.

Your security, your choice

Every Storey account includes strong security by default, with additional options available for those who want extra protection.

You can review and update your account security settings at any time from within your account.
